MINNESOTT BEACH, NC (April 22, 2008) – A model home on display at Arlington Place, the new waterfront residential community on the Neuse River, has won two major awards in this year’s area Parade of Homes competition.

The model home built by award-winning builder Mancuso Development, an Arlington Place Signature Builder, was named best home among the highest-priced category of this year’s Parade homes. In addition, the kitchen in Mancuso’s home was recognized as a special feature worth noting among all 58 of the Parade Homes in this year’s competition. The winners were announced on April 17.

“We’re obviously very excited to be named by our peers as the ‘best home’ in our category and also as having a kitchen that’s especially noteworthy among all of the homes in this year’s Parade event,” said Mancuso Development President Bernie Mancuso.

Mancuso describes his winning home as a “relaxed coastal design” featuring a floor plan from noted home designer William E. Poole of Wilmington, NC.

Just under 3,000-square-feet including a finished room over the garage, Mancuso’s home exterior features a light gray color and a large welcoming and nostalgic porch. The interior color scheme combines natural colors along with tasteful blue and yellow tones. The bathrooms and kitchen are fully tiled including granite countertops. The home features hardwood floors throughout except for the bedrooms which are carpeted. Other upgrades include a finished “gentlemen’s room” over the garage with a surround-sound speaker system, built-in bar and a pool table.

The home’s interior was decorated by interior designer Cathy Weeks of Décor by the Shore and Fran Mancuso of Mancuso Development who looked for elements of coastal living complemented with plush furniture. The effect is elegance without being flashy. “It definitely has a relaxed, coastal feel with a certain elegance that seems to invite you to sit down and enjoy a glass of lemonade,” said Mancuso marketing rep Sarah Franklin.

Corolla, NC-based Mancuso Development was named a Signature Builder at Arlington Place last year based on more than two decades of successful home-building experience. Mancuso is also the only builder to win the coveted North Carolina Home Builders Award of Excellence four consecutive years. As one of the select number of elite homebuilders accepted into the Arlington Place program, Mancuso had to demonstrate a high level of service with a history of customer satisfaction as well as level of financial stability that places him above the typical builder.

The Parade of Homes continues through April with tour dates from noon to 5 p.m. on April 19, 20, 26 and 27. The Mancuso-built home also will be available to tour during Arlington Place’s 2008 Memorial Day Weekend Neighborhood Open House on Saturday, May 24.
