Hardee's is New Athletics Sponsor at Four NC and VA Universities

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. (Oct. 24, 2008) – Hardee’s® has started sports marketing partnerships with four universities in North Carolina and Virginia to become official sponsors of athletic programs at each school. The four universities are: the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC), North Carolina State University (NCSU), the University of Virginia (UVA), and Virginia Tech.

The sponsorship agreements with each school cover different sports and sports venues.

“We are thrilled to be supporting these schools during the 2008-2009 athletic season,” said Jerry Allsbrook, chief marketing officer for Boddie-Noell Enterprises, the largest Hardee’s franchisee in North Carolina and Virginia. “Hardee’s has a strong presence in both Virginia and North Carolina so it was a natural fit for us to commit and support these athletics programs.”

At the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the sponsorship features the Hardee’s brand on video boards this season in both the Dean E. Smith Center and Kenan Stadium and also provides opportunities for food and premium giveaways to students and fans. Hardee’s will also be the official sponsor for the Nov. 8 UNC homecoming football game against Georgia Tech and also holds similar honors for “The Tar Pit” student section at Kenan Stadium for every home football game this year. Additionally, for every 3-point shot made by a UNC men’s or women’s basketball player during the 2008-2009 Tar Heel basketball season, Hardee’s will make a $25 contribution to the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.

At North Carolina State University, the sponsorship features the Hardee’s logo prominently displayed at Carter-Finley Stadium and the RBC Center. Hardee’s also provides fun events for food and giveaways to students and fans. Hardee’s was named the official sponsor of the Hardee’s Half-time Report which airs during all 12 NC State football game broadcasts this season on the statewide Wolfpack Sports Network. Earlier this year, Hardee’s launched its student and fan promotional activities at NSCU by giving away 10,000 free Thickburger® coupons after a NCSU student kicked a 35-yard field goal during a time-out in the first quarter of the NCSU vs. ECU game. Additionally, for every 3-point shot made by a NCSU men’s basketball player during the 2008-2009 basketball season, Hardee’s will make a contribution to a student scholarship fund.

At the University of Virginia, the sponsorship, exclusive to the Cavalier football program, features the Hardee’s logo prominently in signage in Scott Stadium and provides contests for fans and scholarships for students. Under the partnership, Hardee’s donates $250 to UVA’s General Scholarship Fund for every quarterback sack by the Cavaliers at Scott Stadium. In addition, Hardee’s will be the official sponsor of the Nov. 22 football game against Clemson. The game sponsorship will include public address and video board recognition of Hardee’s as the game sponsor as well as fun contests on the field during halftime or pre game. The Hardee’s logo will also appear on the Virginia Athletics “GameDay Central” website page the prior week.

At Virginia Tech Hardee’s is sponsoring a LED ribbon board in the south end zone of Lane Stadium, featuring the Hardee’s logo and messages on a 260-foot Pro-Ad panel. Hardee’s messages can be seen by fans before and after each home game as well as during the game. The video board features a “Hardee's Thickburger® Shuffle” – three Hardee's Thickburgers being shuffled on the video board. One burger has a Virginia Tech football helmet hidden under its bun, then all are shuffled, and fans will be prompted to choose which Hardee's Thickburger has the Virginia Tech helmet under its bun at the end.

Boddie-Noell To Hold 'Hometown' Celebration for Makeover of Wesleyan Boulevard Hardee's

ROCKY MOUNT, NC (Oct. 24, 2008) – Music and free food are part of what’s in store to celebrate the makeover by Boddie-Noell Enterprises of the Hardee’s® restaurant at 600 Wesleyan Blvd. The celebration later this week also underscores the company’s commitment to its hometown and the growth of the Hardee’s brand in Rocky Mount, the company said.

The remodeled Hardee’s creates a contemporary-style makeover of the restaurant, the first remodeling of a Hardee’s by Boddie-Noell since its purchase of 34 restaurants from Hardee’s parent company in 2007. The purchase included all five Hardee’s in Rocky Mount, the first time Boddie-Noell has owned a Hardee’s in its home town.

This project creates a fresh, new look and feel to the restaurant and represents a commitment by Boddie-Noell to where the company was founded 46 years ago, Boddie-Noell said.

“We’ve been looking forward to this opening to celebrate our hometown commitment to Rocky Mount and to demonstrate what a great future the Hardee’s brand has here and elsewhere,” said Mike Boddie, president of Boddie-Noell’s Restaurant Division. “We’re really excited about this new restaurant design. We feel the bold new take on the 1950s-style diner will appeal to customers of all ages.”

To celebrate the completion of the remodel project, a week-long series of activities gets underway on Saturday Oct. 25. It begins bright and early at 5 a.m. with the first 98 people in line winning a free Thickburger a week for a year. All 98 winners will also be treated to a free breakfast of a sausage biscuit and coffee.

Throughout the week there will be daily menu promotions such as 2 for $1 sausage biscuits and buy one get one free Little Thickburgers®. On Halloween, guests who visit in costume will receive a treat. A schedule of all promotional offers can be found on posters at the restaurant.

On Thursday, Oct. 30, from 4 to 7 p.m. Hardee’s will throw a “Hometown Party” with DJ Dave Richmond from radio station 98.5 WDWG, the Big Dawg, taking requests on site. Proceeds from dinner sales during those hours will be donated to the Tar River District of the Boy Scouts, an organization that Boddie-Noell has long supported locally and regionally.

The restaurant now features the Hardee’s “Classic Star” décor which includes barstool-height chairs and tables and stainless steel finishes to create a contemporized 1950s look. The highly stylized exterior showcases brick towers and the Hardee’s star icon, both are elements of the latest Hardee’s prototype restaurant design.

While Boddie-Noell owns a number of Hardee’s in Nash, Edgecombe and neighboring counties, the company decided to start with the Wesleyan Boulevard restaurant because of its highly visible location and a desire to support the continuing transition of the area where Tarrytown Mall once stood.

The remodel celebration is the latest of several home town initiatives that began earlier this year, including radio advertising featuring local customers and employees and the “Hometown Heroes”
discount program for fire, police and rescue workers.

Marshes Light Model Home to be in 2008 Outer Banks Parade of Homes Oct. 9-12

MANTEO, N.C. (October 2008) – The Marshes Light waterfront development’s model home/sales center will be included in this year’s 16th Annual Parade of Homes Oct. 9-12.

The four-bedroom, two-story home at 326 Fernando Street is in the historic district of Manteo and was built to “The Manteo Way of Building” guidelines to conform to Roanoke Island architectural traditions. The home was built by local builder Steve Daniels of Renaissance Construction.

The Marshes Light house is one of five homes on Roanoke Island that have been included in this year's Parade. This 2,700-square-foot, 2 full-bath home is unique in blending in with the old-town feel of Manteo, including the use of beadboard wainscoting, reclaimed woods floors, tall ceilings, paneled doors, glass doorknobs and other vintage hardware. The beautifully appointed interior blends well with the personality of the ‘country coastal farmhouse’ look and feel.

“Steve Daniels has done a beautiful job with this home and we’re excited that Parade visitors will be able to enjoy a decorated home that was designed from the ground up to blend with the historic feel of Manteo and the waterfront here,” said Lee Whitley, director of marketing and sales for Marshes Light. The Marshes Light waterfront community is made up of single family home sites as well as two and three-bedroom marina villas and townhouse flats above retail space designed to carefully blend with the coastal traditions of Roanoke Island. Connected to downtown Manteo by a waterfront boardwalk, Marshes Light also features a beautiful new marina on Shallowbag Bay.

The 16th Annual Pride of Homes has 32 homes this year which will be showcased all the way from Corolla to Hatteras, including the unprecedented five homes on Roanoke Island. The event is sponsored by the Outer Banks Homebuilders Association and includes homes from 27 of the builder members.
