RALEIGH, N.C. (March 23, 2009) – Bailey’s Fine Jewelry in Cameron Village selected Interact as the charity of choice for the retailer’s March charitable watch battery replacement program. All donations from watch battery replacements collected during this time will be donated to the Interact organization. Interact is a private, nonprofit United Way agency that provides safety, support, and awareness to victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault.
This battery replacement program is a unique effort created to address both the needs of customers (who need new watch batteries) and to serve the community. Each Bailey’s Fine Jewelry store location picks a charity of choice and all donations collected throughout a set time frame are given to the selected charity.
Bailey’s Fine Jewelry covers the cost of the watch batteries. Organizations that have benefited include the Eastern N.C. Alzheimer’s Association, Iraqi Star, Salvation Army, Hospice of Wake County and Hearts Revived. The battery replacement program is ongoing and to date has given over $40,000 back to the community.

Interact’s new Family Safety and Empowerment Center brings together nine other community agencies to provide wrap-around services for victims and survivors of violence and abuse.
