RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 16, 2009) - Café Carolina and Bakery locations throughout the Triangle raised $1,456 for Children’s Flight of Hope during the month of August.
Café Carolina collected $1 donations from customers and each donation was recognized by hanging a paper airplane inside the restaurant with the customer’s name written on it. Children’s Flight of Hope provides free air transportation to critically ill or injured children who are unable to reach medical care otherwise.
This was the first year the two organizations partnered, and Café Carolina hopes to continue to support the valiant effort of the group in the future. Participating locations included Café Carolina and Bakery restaurants in: Cary, Cameron Village, downtown in the Wachovia Building and in Chapel Hill.
"We were very pleased and grateful to have had the opportunity to work with such a caring company that truly cares about their community," said Amy J. Carver, executive director of Children's Flight of Hope. "The money raised by Cafe Carolina will fund a flight for an ill child so that they may receive life saving treatment."
Children’s Flight of Hope is based out of Raleigh-Durham International Airport and strives to complete at least 100 missions annually. Since each trip is free to the family, Children’s Flight of Hope relies solely on private contributions.
“We recognized what a noble cause Children’s Flight of Hope is working to support and wanted to be a part of it,” said Pam Spivey, senior brand manager with Café Carolina parent company Boddie-Noell Enterprises. “We could not have completed this fundraiser without the generous support of our customers, and we look forward to working with Children’s Flight of Hope again in the future.”
